Analogy vs Homology

Image
1. For your homologus traits provide the following information (25 pts): a. Briefly describe (not just identify) the two different species that possess the homologous trait.   The point is to provide your reader (and grader) some background on the species in question so we can understand the selection pressures that produced these traits. Don’t short-change this.   This should be a paragraph of information, not just a few words and it will be graded as such.   (5 pts) Whales and bats are two species that share the homologous trait of the presence of a forelimb. Previously whales resided on land and used their forelimbs for ground travel. At this point in their evolution. whales had small forelimbs since they were much smaller animals that could move freely on the ground. These early ancestors of the whale are believed to have lived a more aquatic lifestyle and were mainly found in the bay type areas between freshwater and the ocean. It is believed that these ear...

Historical Influences on Darwin

I believe that Thomas Malthus was the most influential over Darwin’s development of his theory of natural selection.  Malthus studied the human growth population and put it in his Essay on the Principle of Population where he became well known as an economist in the late 18 th Century.  Thomas Malthus is also recognized for creating a formula that could be used to project the growth of the inhabitants. This blueprint is identified as the Malthusian growth model. In the early 19 th Century, Malthus was drawn to the work of Charles Darwin on theory of natural selection. They both seemed to be impacted by each other’s theories. Darwin agreed that there was some logic in Malthus theory of why we aren’t up to our eyeballs in rabbits. Malthus argued that when resources are running low the animals begin to fight for the limited supplies that are available. Additionally, Malthus believed that when there is a considerable amount of resources there were very few predators....

You won't catch me without

If I were stranded on a island one thing that I would take would be a large book preferably a faith filled based book. The reason I would choose a faith filled based book is because after you have been there for a while your mind will begin to wonder in unhealthy ways, so I believe a book like these can keep you grounded, uplifted and positive in situation like this. The second item I would bring would be a knife. I would bring a knife for several reasons one would be to protect myself against any wild animals that may look at me as a meal and another would be to use to hunt for food so I wouldn't starve to death.
